Desert Dance Studio
BELLY DANCE CLASSES (BEGINNER - ADVANCED)
Desert Dance teaches all the basic core and traditional movements of belly dance. With a total of 6 levels you will learn a wide vocabulary of basic
belly dance "Orientale" movements as well as traveling steps & turns common to the Egyptian-style "classic" cabaret dance and other styles of
belly dancing. Props such as Veil and finger cymbols "zills" will also be incorperated into sessions. With full break-downs & step-combinations,
it will improve your posture, flexibility, balance, grace, muscle isolation, and control. Each week we put these new moves into combos and
string them together into an exciting choreography for a sense of feeling well rounded and most of all have fun!
TRIBAL FUSION BELLY DANCE
Tribal I will teach you the basics of Improvisational Tribal Style a form related to American Tribal Style belly dance (inspired by Indian and North African dance as well as Flamenco, but created in the US). You won't learn
any choreographies in this class, however, you will learn a system of moves and how to cue and follow them so that you'll move as a group with fellow dancers and be able to perform on the spot to any music, while giving the illusion of a choreographed dance. This style has beendescribed as earthy, athletic, grounded, graceful and feminine
Vinyasa/Hatha Yoga Classes
Belly Yoga
Vinyasa Yoga connects movement and breath to link asanas (yoga postures) in continuous movement. This form is also known as “flow” because of the smooth way that the poses are linked together in dance-like fashion. Hatha Yoga works on a broad assortment of traditional yoga asanas (poses) designed to build breath, strength, improve flexibility and cultivate meditative focus. Vinyasa/Hatha classes incorporate both of these styles,30 minutes of each, for optimal yoga benefits.
Explore Yoga asanas (postures), vinyasa (flow) and pranayama (breath). Especially designed to target the body’s core (abdomen, lower back, as well as hips and thighs). This class focuses on coordination, grace, balance and flexibility while activating the core. Perfect for dancers, athletes and anyone looking to target this area of the body. Hot Yoga: Vinyasa/Hatha c taught in heated room for maximum flexibility and movement potential. Please note: This is NOT a Bikram Yoga class. On The Mat 2 Hour Yoga Workshops: An intenstive two hour class designed for beginners, seasoned practitioners and those in between. This workshop focuses on: breath, meditation, visualization, vinyasa, hatha and practicing in the present moment. All levels welcome as modifications will be given as needed. The perfect way to begin a Yoga practice or to re-focus yourself and motivate your practice.
